UNICEF CHAMPION FOR CHILDREN GIVES THUMBS UP TO SUSPENSION OF SPANKINGS IN SCHOOLS

Education officials continue to defend the move to abolish corporal punishment in schools, stating that it is in keeping with a number of conventions signed between Saint Lucia and international agencies like the United Nations. The department of education has also embraced the UNICEF-supported ‘child friendly schools’ framework, in order to tackle violence against children.

UNICEF champion for children Taj Weekes says school spanking is simply outdated.
