U19 SCHOOLS CRICKET TOURNAMENT- SIR IRA DEFEAT VIDE BOUTIELLE BY 2 WICKETS

The 2019 Massy United Insurance 50 Over Under 19 Schools Cricket Tournament resumed on Monday, February 25 with five matches played at venues island wide. 
At the Gros Islet Playing Field, Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary completely out played Babonneau Secondary, winning that encounter convincingly by 10 wickets. 
Babonneau Secondary winning the toss and batting first, could only muster 71 all out in 21 overs with Yanic Noel 23, the only batsman to reach double figures.  Left arm orthodox spinner Jaden Elibox bowled impressively for Leon Hess, finishing with figures of five for 29 in his allocated 10 overs. The other wicket takers were left arm spinner captain Keygan Arnold with three for 20  and off spinner Udel Preville two wickets for four runs.
Set 72 runs for victory, Leon Hess led by opening batsmen Keygan Arnold with 36 not out and Benniah Monzie 28 not out made light work of their target, finishing on 76 without loss in only seven overs. 
At the Balata Playing Field,  Sir Ira Simmons Secondary won a nail biter against Vide Boutielle Secondary by just two runs. 
Sir Ira Simmons Secondary batting first after winning the toss was dismissed for 185 in 28 overs with Gabriel Biscette hitting his second consecutive half century of the tournament.  He scored  61 which included five fours and six sixes, Jequan Epiphane  got 18 and Kerick Victor 11.  Bowling for Vide Boutielle Secondary, Marville Cyril bagged four  for 24 , Davidson Pierre Louis three for 42, Avalinus Calender two for 26.
Chasing 186 for victory, Vide Boutielle Secondary led by a half century from Leevaughn Dupres 53, with four fours and three sixes fell  perilously close to Sir Ira Secondary’s total finishing on 183 all out in 32 overs. James Donai with 20, Avalinus Calender 15 and Noel Emmanus 10 also made valuable contributions. The most successful bowlers for Sir Ira Simmons were, Jaquan Epiphane with three for 32  and Gabriel Biscette two for 20.
At the La Ressource Playing Field in the Mabouya Valley, Jon Odlum Memorial won over Grande Riviere Secondary by 5 wickets. 
Jon Odlum Memorial Secondary won the toss and invited Grande Riviere Secondary to bat first and made 122 all out in 19.5 overs with the main scorers being, Darneil Deterville with 40 and Leequan Henry 32.  Bowling for Jon Odlum Memorial, Jeanoi Jules picked up three for seven in two overs, Scott William two for 20 and Dashan Louis two for 30. Set a victory target of 123 for victory, Jon Odlum Memorial,comfortably got to the total finishing on 123 for five with Nevaughn Mitchel making 24 and Ezran Jules 10 not out.  Bowling for Grande Riviere Secondary, Shem Cumberbatch  claimed two wickets for two runs 
At the Wenn Playing Field in Mon Repos, Micoud Secondary enjoyed a very light day at the office defeating Clendon Mason Memorial Secondary by 10 wickets. 
Clendon Mason Memorial Secondary batting first were skittled out for 29 in 10.2 overs.  Doing the damage with the ball for Micoud Secondary were, Brent Edward with three wickets for one run,  Dekiege Henry three for 19  and Jerlan Justin two for  nine. With just runs 30 needed for victory, Micoud Secondary’s opening batsmen Keon Gaston 15 not out and Nean Deterville  four  not out easily brought victory to their team in just 3.2 overs. 
At the Piaye Playing Field, Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary registered an easy eight wicket victory over Piaye Secondary.  Piaye Secondary batting first after being inserted by Soufriere Comprehensive never got going and was dismissed for 44 in 14 overs with Joshua Monero making 10.  For Soufriere Comprehensive, seam bowlers Stephane Theophane with four  for 14 in five overs and Kevin Gassie two for nine  did the damage with the ball. Set a target of 45 for victory, Soufriere Comprehensive finished on 45 for two with Nick Jn Baptiste and Anil Faucher remaining undefeated on 21 and nine respectively.
