PRESS RELEASE:-The top 18-and-under male swimmers and top 17-and-under female swimmers in the world will come to Indianapolis August 23rd – 28th 2017 for the 6th FINA World Junior Swimming Championships, hosted by USA Swimming and United States Aquatic Sports.
The event will be held at the iconic Indiana University Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI.
This will be the sixth edition of the prestigious competition which was first held in 2006 in Rio de Janeiro and hosted in 2015 in Singapore.
This year, 2017, St. Lucia Amateur Swimming Association will support sole swimmer Terrel Monplaisir who will be expected to compete in the six-day meet amongst nearly 1000 athletes from nearly 100 countries. The meet will feature an early look at young athletes who will vie for positions on their respective nations’ Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games rosters.
Terrel recently competed this year at the Carifta Games in the Bahamas bringing home a silver medal and competed at the CCCAN in Trinidad breaking an age group records.
When asked how he felt ahead of his upcoming journey, Terrel expressed his gratitude to SLASA, his family and TOGS Fund for giving him the opportunity to represent and to give off his best. He continued to express his level of anticipation in his performance having to compete for the first time on an international level against top athletes throughout the world.
