TAIWANESE GOV’T TO FUND $50M ROAD REHAB PROJECT

The Taiwanese government is providing over $50 million to support a major road rehabilitation program.

A Taiwanese delegation of engineers visited Saint Lucia last week to conduct a feasibility assessment of road networks.

Speaking on the sidelines of a Disaster risk management meeting on Friday, May 11th; Infrastructure Minister Stephenson King said the visit is a response to the government’s application to obtain a loan for the project. King says a comprehensive preliminary investigation is underway.

Following the visit; the countries will formulate a strategy for the Road Infrastructure initiative.

The Taiwanese government continues to support Saint Lucia in areas such as the rehabilitation of the fisheries facilities, the constituency development program, technology innovation and science.
