ST LUCIA CELEBRATES INDIAN ARRIVAL DAY 2019

The arrival of indentured labourers from the Indian sub-continent is one of the under-reported aspects of Saint Lucia’s history.
This week marked the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the first ship transporting East Indian indentured laborers to St. Lucia.
The journey and life on the plantation was difficult for the new comers from India.
