Spider Cup Q-Final 2: Twist Dominators triumph in penalty shootout

(PRESS RELEASE) – The 2017 Spider Cup Tournament continued on Saturday November 25, 2017. Two games were played on that day and the second encounter saw Northern United B FC coming up against Twist Dominators Fc.

The highly spirited Northern United B FC (who beamed based on the prior victory of their C Team) players commenced their game on a high as their team included past national players such as Everton Lambert, Tev Lawrence, Jardel Largen and Jonas Maximier. Other team members included district level players such as Nictus Lawrence and Ed Williams.

Twist Dominators FC comprised of some district level players notably Zev Oculien, Lyndan St Juste and Christopher Albert (as goal keeper).

The initially fast pace game was brought to a halt when Tev Lawrence of Northern United B FC was blown a bad tackle in the penalty area due to a defensive error by Dominators FC’s Captain in the 18th minute of play. Tev Lawrence capitalized on this opportunity and dispatched this penalty with ease. The game continued with Twist Dominators FC feverishly working to equalize the score. Northern United B FC lost several oportunities to seal the game against Twist Dominators FC which established a persistently highline structure throughout the first half.

The score at half time was 1-0 in favour of Northern United B FC.

The second half saw more determination for domination by Twist Dominators FC. Supported by a strong fan base, they finally reaped rewards in the 56th minute of play when they got a penalty due to a handled ball in the 18 yard area. Prolific striker Brandon Defrietas for Twist Dominators FC wasted no time in scoring another goal for his team. The game continued with Twist Dominators FC advances against a quickly deflating Northern United B FC.

The game ended with a 1-1 draw. In the end, Twist Dominators FC won 3-1 on penalties as a result of two brilliant saves by custodian Christoper Albert.
