SLP ANTICIPATES GOVERNMENT LED SUPPRESSION ATTEMPTS BEFORE NO CONFIDENCE DEBATE

Despite confirmation of the anticipated confidence debate in the lower house for January 29th, opposition MPs have expressed concern on what they say is an inordinate number of items also carded for debate. Opposition leader Philip J Pierre has accused the government side of the house of deliberately inflating the order paper, in an attempt to suppress their no confidence motion.

  1. While i agree that our parliament indeed, needs to meet more frequently i cannot help but question and point out that it is the undying habit of the St.Lucia Labor Party to bring up such notions when they observe and are aware of progress being made under that hand the the United Workers Party. I must question why it is that the leader of the opposition though being involved in politics for so many years and not simply so, but also being part of the leadership of his party, did not see it fit to pass such a motion under their reign. That being said, I believe, that like many of their other motions the SLP will stop at nothing to either hinder any progress made under the administration of the UWP, and when that does not work, they will do whatever is necessary to fixate the eyes of the St. Lucian People on any distraction that they can conjure up from their prideful, arrogant, self seeking nature.
On the matter of having the government truly be run by those elected, I first refer you to my first question. And then i state that, for years this country has been governed by the ruling majority of the elected official, meaning that the cumulative vote of the people expresses who the people of St.Lucia have confidence in and thus trust to lead this country. That being said, if it were the case where the culture of elected officials was not that of a power-hungry and self seeking nature, I would then say, congrats, lets actually digest this and do it. Sadly, if we were to take the current culture of so many of our elected officials and place them in such an environment, I dare say that we would get no where, and simply stand with a divided, self mutilating government.
