The Saint Lucia Employers Federation is not enthusiastic about talk of a proposed cost of living allowance and standardized minimum wage for Low-income earners.
Cuthbert Didier – a maritime Consultant who is a trained economist, first mooted the idea of an allowance as an alternative to a minimum wage.
The Employers Federation argues that an allowance is a ‘burdensome’ operational expense and a national minimum wage could give investors the jitters.
