Saint Lucia’s Caribbean Youth Conference 2018

PRESS RELEASE: With April been dubbed youth month, the Saint Lucia National Youth Council (SLNYC) in collaboration with the Department of Youth Development and Sports would like to officially announce the Caribbean Youth Conference, slated for April 26th to 27th 2018. The two day conference embraces the theme “Framing Caribbean Youth Development, From Rhetoric to Action” and will be held at the Golden Palm Event Center in Rodney Bay.

This event has been designed to solicit the participation of young professionals as well as youth and community leaders around Saint Lucia and the Caribbean region. The objectives of The Caribbean Youth Conference is to create a platform for young persons from various backgrounds to discuss and address issues, highlight the importance of advocacy and volunteerism and engage in dialogue with government officials  in plotting the way forward for Caribbean youth.

In order to facilitate this and gain maximum participation, the program is broken down into three segments including  plenary sessions on the impact of crime on youth and the importance of youth engagement in advocacy and policy in addition to breakout sessions which will allow persons to engage in discourse within their field of interest and culminate with Straight Up Talks, where  youth delegates will be given an opportunity to dialogue with the government officials, on the major issues highlighted at the conference. We look forward to the support of young persons within Saint Lucia as we seek to establish an active youth movement. We urge young persons to take advantage of this opportunity and join the youth core at the Caribbean Youth Conference 2018.

Application for The Caribbean Youth Conference Saint Lucia, 2018 is now open. Youth, ages 16 to 35 are invited to apply before April 4th, 2018.
