The Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) is the largest trans-ocean sailing event.
Each November; over 200 yachts set off from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and cross the Atlantic Ocean to Rodney Bay in Saint Lucia.
The rally has 3 divisions; multi-hull; racing and cruising class.
For the 1st time in Saint Lucian history; a group of young sailors will partake in the racing aspect of the ARC.
On September 23rd; the Saint Lucia Tourist Board met with corporate partners to garner support for the sailors to transport themselves and sailboat to Las Palmas.
For Arc 2016; the SLTB wants more public participation.
2016 marks the 31st edition of the Arc.
The World Arc also falls in line with the traditional ARC and Arc plus activity.
Unlike Arc; the rally starts and ends in Saint Lucia.
Saint Lucia’s racing team comprises 6-members with 10 years of experience in sailing.
They are ready to represent Saint Lucia.
Saint Lucia is celebrating 27 years of ARC.
Organizers of Arc have registered record numbers; over 300 boats have signed up to participate; 51 more than last year.
Annually; Saint Lucia the yachting sector receives over 30,000 visitors.
