Saint Lucia on Tropical Storm Watch, Parade of the Bands in Doubt?

A TROPICAL STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR SAINT LUCIA.
   
 TROPICAL STORM DON CONTINUES ON A WESTWARD TRACK TOWARD THE SOUTHERN WINDWARD ISLANDS.
    
AT 5:00 AM TODAY THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM DON WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 11.5 DEGREES NORTHLONGITUDE 56.2 DEGREES WEST OR ABOUT 318 MILES OR 512 KILOMETERS EAST SOUTHEAST OF SAINT LUCIA.
 
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 50 MPH OR 85 KM/H WITH SOME HIGHER GUSTS. SOME STRENGTHENING IS POSSIBLE THROUGH TONIGHT WHILE DON APPROACHES THE WINDWARD ISLANDS.
 
TROPICAL STORM DON IS MOVING TOWARDS THE WEST OR 280 DEGREES AT 18 MPH OR 30 KM/H AND THIS GENERAL MOTION, WITH AN INCREASE IN FORWARD SPEED, IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH WEDNESDAY.  ON THIS TRACK THE CENTER OF DON IS EXPECTED TO PASS THROUGH THE SOUTHERN WINDWARD ISLANDS NEAR GRENADA TONIGHT.
 
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS CURRENTLY EXTEND ABOUT 35 MILES FROM THE CENTER. TROPICAL STORM WATCHES ARE IN EFFECT FOR BARBADOS AND SAINT LUCIA AND TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS ARE IN EFFECT FOR GRENADA, SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES.
 
SMALL CRAFT OPERATORS AROUND SAINT LUCIA ARE ASKED TO EXERCISE CAUTION WHEN VENTURING FAR FROM PORT. SEA BATHERS ARE ALSO ADVISED TO EXERCISE CAUTION.
 
THE SAINT LUCIA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES WILL CLOSELY MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS STORM AND ANOTHER STATEMENT WILL BE ISSUED AT 11:00 AM TODAY.
