SAINT LUCIA TEACHERS UNION HOSTS 16th ANNUAL RETIREES Function

In October, the Saint Lucia joined the international community in honoring teachers and recognizing their invaluable contribution to the education sector.
The celebrations continued on Saturday, October 8th as the Saint Lucia Teachers Union paid special tribute to retiring teachers.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Esther Braithwaite told the career teachers that their role as educators does not end with retirement.

President of the SLTU Julian Monrose thanked the teachers for their years of service to the vocation.

Retiree Joseph Samuel says that significant strides have been made in the field teaching, chief among them is the attitude towards the profession, which was in the past not viewed as a rewarding line of work.

World Teachers Day is observed annually on October 5th.
It marks defining moment on October 5th, 1966, when UNESCO and the ILO adopted recommendations concerning the Status of Teachers.
