[Press Release] The popularity of football in St. Lucia and the entire world at large is unprecedented. A gargantuan number of people are infatuated by the joyful ethos which a football game arouses.
The polarizing allure of the game on the hearts and minds of people makes it a priceless asset of unit and social elevation. The Saint Lucia Football Association Inc. through its social mandate, has sought to utilize the game and its popularity as a tool for social development within the country. The SLFA for this reason has collaborated with the World Coaches Program to host a 4 day workshop for national coaches.
The World Coaches Program is a Netherland based organization which primarily focuses on the inculcation of essential social attributes within a coach which would better equip the individual to deal with the social plagues faced by the players. The workshop will be coordinated by a twenty year steward of the World Coaches Program Mr Robert Klein. Mr Klein is a former player of the game in his native country of Holland and is also a long serving football coach.
Mr Klein explained that the targets of the workshop would be any football coach with a direct influence on young players or youth programs and academies. He elucidated that the project’s main intention would be to educate the coaches on the acknowledgement and integration of their social responsibilities to the players into their coaching plans.
The workshop is set to commence on Tuesday May 15th and run until Friday May 18th 2018. Thirty coaches, most of whom are either assigned to the country’s national youth teams or from the recently implemented “CAN” program, have been selected to participate in the workshop. This workshop will be held at the headquarters of the Saint Lucia Football Association Inc. in La Clery from 9a.m.
