Prime minister meets Miss Independence contestants

(PRESS RELEASE) – Prime Minister Allen Chastanet welcomed the Miss Independence pageant contestants to the Official Residence of the Prime Minister last week Wednesday.

The ladies will represent the various constituency councils in the 2018 Miss Independence beauty pageant, where they will display their individual talents.

“Yesterday, I had the pleasure of welcoming to the Official Residence of the Prime Minister these talented and beautiful young ladies,” said the prime minister. “They were smart and witty, and I got the opportunity to discuss many issues with them including their goals, education in Saint Lucia, and life in general. Their responses were revealing as well as enlightening. Please join me in wishing them well.”

As a token of appreciation, the prime minister was presented with the gift of an Independence Doll.

The contestants include Shanic Hippolyte representing Anse-la-Raye, Dariah Noel representing Castries, Estheriline Augustine for Micoud, Earlyca Frederick for Choiseul, Kaysia Verneuil representing Laborie, Kurnisha Augustus as he contestant for Dennery, Bernell St. Rose for Soufriere, Kianna Nicholas for Vieux Fort, and Alisha Wells representing Gros Islet. A representative for Canaries will soon be selected.

The pageant will be held on Friday, Feb. 16, at the National Cultural Center.
