PM: REGION UNPREPARED FOR HURRICANE SEASON

Member states of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) sought to promote climate resilience and sustainable economic growth when they met in Saint Lucia on Thursday.

ECLAC’s 5th Caribbean Development Roundtable included sessions on green investment financing, building resilience and structural transformation in the Region.

The meeting took place just about one month before the start of the 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season and Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister Allen Chastanet told the gathering that the Region is not ready.

The member states also discussed debt, the vulnerability of Caribbean economies and the promotion of fiscal responsibility.
