Community Pediatrician dr. Jacqueline bird is confirming a sharp spike in the number of cases of the viral infection gastroenteritis recorded over the last 3 weeks.
Young children and the elderly are most vulnerable to the illness, which is accompanied by nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and headaches.
Dr. Bird has issued a number of guidelines to help parents with children presenting these symptoms. She is urging them to refrain from giving their children the common anti-vomiting drug gravamin.
