Senior Communications Officer in the Office of the Prime Minister, Nicole Mcdonald has taken exception to criticism by the Saint Lucia Labour Party of Prime Minister Allen Chastanet’s remarks in an interview with a UK TV on the Windrush immigration issue.
The SLP in a press release on April 24 accused the Prime Minister Allen Chastanet of embarrassing Saint Lucia in the Channel Four interview for failing to provide an answer on the number of Windrush affected Saint Lucians in the UK.
The SLP advised that the Prime Minister be properly briefed such issues before issuing a comment.
However, Mc Donald counters that such a characterization is unfair.
The SLP also slammed the Prime Minister for the describing the situation as an administrative cock-up.
Mcdonald has accused the Opposition of attempting to twist Prime Minister’s words.
The SLP alleged that Saint Lucians and other Caribbean nationals living in the UK are particularly hurt by the comments made by the Prime Minister.
Mcdonald who dismissed this assertion stressed that the government of Saint Lucia and the High Commission in the UK are working to assist nationals in the UK who require assistance.
