Off Duty Cop Kills Would be Robber, Breaks 2016 Homicide Toll

Simon Joseph of Balata, Babonneau was reportedly shot dead by an off duty police officer on July 14.

It is alleged that Joseph along with two other men attempted to rob the plain clothes officer at knife point.

The botched, strong armed mugging reportedly happened in George the V Park in the capital between 9 pm and 10:30 pm.

HTS News4orce has not been able to ascertain the identification of the police officer involved in the shooting.

Simon Joseph, 35, was reportedly shot in the chest during the alleged mugging. The two alleged accomplices fled.

Joseph was pronounced dead at hospital.

To date, 32 homicides have been recorded in 2017. An investigation is ongoing.
