Nike is making waves, after taking Colin Kaepernick under its wings, to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Kaepernick, a former NFL player, rose to fame in 2016, after kneeling during the US national anthem as a means to protest police brutality and social injustice.
Since news broke about the ad campaign where Nike is quoted as saying, “Believe in something even if it means sacrificing everything,” some angry folks have taken to social media to express their displeasure with their choice to stand with the activist.
Since taking knee, President Trump said that refusing to stand during the anthem is an insult to the nation, flag, military and veterans. However others argue that the military fights for Kaepernick’s right to protest in the way he sees fit.
