January 22nd 2016 Is Income Tax Abolition Viable For Saint Lucia?

In his 2016/2017 budget address, Antigua And Barbuda prime minister Gaston Browne announced the elimination of personal income tax.
It was a campaign promise by the Gaston Browne-led Antigua Labor party in 2014.
The prime minister indicated the tax 8% on residents earning an income above $3,500 and 15% on those earning an income about 25,000 would be stamped out.
Therefore, would such a measure work in
St. Lucia?
Well not so fast, says a leading accounting expert.
