Embassy honors local Cuban 5 Activists

Five Saint Lucians have been recognized by the government of Cuba for their relentless voluntary work in championing the cause of the release of the Cuban 5.
The ‘Cuban 5’ refers to the five Cuban men who were imprisoned in the United States after being arrested by the FBI in September 1998.
Their sentences were commuted by US President Barack Obama and they are now free men in their native Cuba.
Cuba’s ambassador to the OECS says the work of groups like the local committee for the release of the Cuban 5 was instrumental in keeping the cause in the main-stream media.
