Minister in the Ministry of Finance Dr. Ubaldus Raymond says Saint Lucia is taking all the corrective steps to get off the European Union’s tax haven blacklist.
The Prime Minister said recently that Saint Lucia learned of its placement on the list near the end of October 2017, and had requested clarification on the specific areas in need of reform.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 15 February Senate Sitting, Dr. Raymond said finance officials are doing all in their power to get off the black and into the grey.
Dr. Raymond says each black-listed jurisdiction has been given a list of changes that must be made to meet the EU’s tax transparency standards. He says Saint Lucia is doing its part to conform.
Dr. Raymond says he is confident that Saint Lucia can go the way of Barbados and Grenada and get off the blacklist.
