Choiseul’s Zia Barnard to Represent Saint Lucian Youth at United Nations Forum

PRESS RELEASE: The Saint Lucia National Youth Council (SLNYC) along with the Department of Youth Development and Sports is pleased to announce St. Lucia’s presence at the 2018 Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. Selected to participate from the National Youth Council’s Youth Ambassadors Network, is 23 year old Zia Barnard from the community of Choiseul.

Ms. Barnard, recently graduated from University of the West Indies majoring in Micro-Biology with a minor in Biotechnology. She has proven to be dedicated and passionate about her field of study and is well positioned to represent the youth of Saint Lucia at the ECOSOC forum.

This two day summit from January 30th to 31st 2018, has adopted the theme “The Role of Youth in Building Sustainable and Resilient Urban and Rural Communities”. The program is centered on connecting youth leaders from different organizations around the world and providing a platform to engage representatives in dialogue with Member States and contribute to policy formulation on economic and social aspects globally.
