Castries Mayor extends condolences on the passing of St Lucian icon

(PRESS RELEASE) – It is with profound sadness that we heard of the passing of St. Lucian Icon, Gandolph St. Clair.

On behalf of all in the Office of the Mayor, we send our heartfelt sympathies and prayers to his immediate family and close relatives.

Mr. St. Clair, the poet, the director, the playwright, the singer and the actor, served without boundaries particularly in the cultural realm.

The St. Lucian Icon was at the forefront to develop the arts and carnival and for some time worked extremely hard to revamp the J’ouvert tradition during St. Lucia Carnival.

We wish the St. Clair family God’s guidance and support and pray that the St. Lucian Icon will find a place of joy and rest.

The grief we share at his passing is, without doubt, grief that will be shared by our nation especially the cultural fraternity.
