BLIND WELFARE ASSOCIATION GETS TAIWANESE FUNDS

The Republic of China on Taiwan has donated to the St. Lucia Blind Welfare Association’s oriental touch therapy.

The wife of Taiwan’s resident Ambassador Douglas Shen, Lynn Shen presented a cheque of $2,000 to outgoing president Anthony Avril. The association has been facing tough financial challenges since 2017.

Avril revealed that Japan was offering assistance to the University of Nicaragua to train blind therapists.

He says the donation will be used to send two St. Lucians to that program.

Participants of the Nicaraguan program are expected to impart the knowledge learnt at the program to blind and visually impaired individuals in St. Lucia.
