MARY ANN STREET FIRE GUTS SEVERAL BUILDINGS

Up to eight buildings bordering Maryann and Broglie Street in the capital were damaged in an early morning blaze on October 30. The fire gutted one residential property which has left at least three people homeless. The fire department is investigating the cause of the blaze.

SLTU LEADS SALCC TEACHERS IN PROTEST

About two months after the SALCC board resigned en masse, educators are demonstrating their dissatisfaction with the current working environment. Classes were disrupted on October 25th and 26th, after teachers suddenly fell ill.  Occupational health and safety issues have been a perennial problem for the college.
